Wendy works jointly with the Kirwan Institute and the Department of Women’s Studies at OSU where she is an assistant professor. After earning her B.S. degree in political science from Xavier University of Louisiana, Wendy went on to earn both her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in government and politics from the University of Maryland in College Park. Currently, she conducts research and teaches in the field of American public policy with specialties in women and politics, racial politics, and state and local politics and policy. Also, Wendy is working on her first book, Power and Influence: The Impact of Race and Gender in American State Legislatures, where she argues that the race and gender of a legislator has an impact on how they are perceived in the legislature and that these perceptions ultimately shape policy outputs.
