S. P. Udayakumar (Kumar) works as a research fellow in the international program of the institute. He worked as a research associate at the Institute on Race and Poverty, University of Minnesota, before returning to India in 2001. He has an earned doctorate in Political Science with Peace Studies focus from the University of Hawaii, an M.A. in Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame and an earlier MA from the Kerala University in English Literature.

Research Interests: Human marginalization, Social and Economic justice, and Sustainable development and Futures studies.
