Local Advocacy and Community Building in Battle Creek, MI
Since 2003, the Kirwan Institute has been working with the National Resource Center for the Healing of Racism in Battle Creek, Michigan to develop a series of presentations on structural racism and communities of opportunity for public outreach, advocacy and education. In addition to conducting analysis that examined the structural causes of regional dispari¬ties, Kirwan staffers have assisted with regional convenings focused on the need to connect all residents to communities of opportunity and to address housing and economic development disparities that disadvantage the entire region.
